STEP Opening Event Welcomes Innovative Companies

Yesterday, we were delighted to host the opening event of Sapporo Transnational Expansion and Partnership (STEP), welcoming companies with cutting-edge technologies from countries including the United States, the Philippines, and South Korea.

The event began with an introduction to the Sapporo One-Stop Support Desk for Foreign Companies, followed by a report on the outcomes of recent overseas business missions.

We were honored to welcome the following speakers and companies:

Japanese convenience store chain
Leveraging the accessibility of neighborhood convenience stores to deliver sustainable initiatives directly to local communities, including efforts in renewable energy such as offshore wind power.

American energy storate firm
An innovative non-lithium flywheel energy storage system capable of operating for up to four hours, offering high durability and an environmentally friendly alternative for energy storage.

American plastic recycling firm
A patented Plastic-to-Oil (PTO) technology that converts waste plastics into ultra-clean feedstock oil, contributing to circular economy solutions.

AI-based ERS system developping firm
An AI-powered ERS system providing an all-in-one enterprise service designed to maximize operational productivity.

Through this event, we gained valuable insights into new technologies not yet introduced to Japan, along with concrete collaboration ideas, the reasons these technologies are needed in Hokkaido, and the conditions required for potential partnerships.

STEP will continue to work across the ecosystem in collaboration with the City of Sapporo, JETRO, STARTUP HOKKAIDO, Hokkaido University, and startups throughout Hokkaido, approaching each opportunity from multiple professional perspectives.
